4 Types of Ways to Use Graphic Design

As I have mentioned before in other posts there are many ways to use graphic design, because designers create visual composition to solve problems and communicate ideas through forms, imagery typography and color. Because there is no unique or exclusive way to solve some tasks, this is the primary reason why there are several types of graphic design and each of them with their own area of specialization.

Taking a look at the eight types of graphic design will help you find the right skills for each specific job.

1- Marketing & advertising

Marketing designers can work with  directors, business owners, marketing professionals or they can work alone as part of an internal or creative team. Designers may specialize in a specific type of media magazine ads, digital media, car wraps or many other for example.

Some examples of marketing graphic design:

Postcards and flyers, magazine and newspaper ads, posters, banners and billboards, infographics, brochures, Vehicle wraps,Signage and trade show displays, email marketing templates, menus, social media ads, banners and graphics, banners, images for websites and blogs

2- User interface design

UI design is the process of designing interfaces to provide a user-friendly experience. UI design focuses on the user’s visual experience and in to create graphic elements like buttons, menus, micro-interactions, and more. It’s a UI designer’s job to balance aesthetic appeal with technical functionality.

Some examples of user interface graphic design:

  • Web page design
  • Game interfaces
  • Theme design
  • App design

3- Visual identity

A brand identity is how the organization communicates its personality, tone and essence, as well as emotions, memories, and experiences. Visual identity graphic design is exactly that: the visual elements of brand identity that act as the face of a brand to communicate those intangible qualities through graphics.

4 Publication

Publication are pieces that communicate with an audience through public distribution. They have traditionally been a print medium. Publication design is a very classic type of design: think of newspapers, magazines, catalogs, and books. However, recently there has been a significant increase in digital publishing.
